What to expect
When you visit an osteopath for the first time, a full medical case history will be taken and you will be given a physical examination. You will normally be asked to remove some items of your clothing and asked to perform some simple movements in order to assess your presenting symptom(s). (If possible please wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing).
Orthopaedic and neurological examinations may be included. A diagnosis is formulated and each patient is treated as an individual.
Treatment often includes a variety of hands-on techniques that will be explained to you before asking for your consent.
In order for us to deliver the best possible treatment for you, it may be necessary to refer you for medical imaging, blood tests or to other healthcare practitioners.
If you have any questions before, during or after treatment please do not hesitate to ask.
